Active antenna is designed with amplifying circuit inside the antenna. It receives weak signals through passive antenna, enlarges the signals by the amplifying circuit and transmits them to the receiver. The receiver analyzes those signals and enforces navigation and positioning. To power the amplifying circuit, the receiver should supply with a low voltage power after connection. The amplifier and supporting power distinguish active antennas from passive antennas. With the added amplifier, active aerial’s gain is higher.
For your choice, check the power voltage range available from your receiver to the antenna first, then check what connector type matches your receiver and finally determine your mounting option and cable length.
